5 people work full time for the house. The women all wear a “uniform” more like a crew of a ship: blue and white stripes, skirts, and white polo shirts. The team is managed by Marie José, the “Governante” who lives on the grounds with her husband Martinio.

He looks after the gardens and also the housekeeping (pools, watering, driving, going to the market….). There is also a (very good) cook and 2 maids who look aftr the rooms. They serve lunch and dinner, look after the ironing etc. In the gardens, there is 1 head gardener and Martinio.

The Quinta do Muro is a very simple but sophisticated house. A bell rings at times for the meals. During summer all the meals are served outdoors. The breakfast comes with fresh eggs layed by our hens, jams from the fruits of our orchard and garden, teas etc… For lunch, traditionally we do a buffet with a gresh fish of the day, vegetables from the garden, pasta, and home made desserts (ice cream, fruit salads, melon from the quinta etc.) The dinner is more formal and refined (gazpacho, soufflés, risottos, grilled fish etc…)

The Quinta do Muro is a family house, simple, refined, minimalist, but not ostentatious. The beauty of the situation, the architecture, and the special atmosphere has always been very much appreciated by our guests.
